Future of the Hollywood Bowl

Hollywood Bowl

“Here sit together thousands upon thousands of people… all partaking in a singular, unifying experience, that of the chasm-bridging, soul-transporting power of music.”

- Stephanie Fleischmann, The Hollywood Bowl: Tales of Summer Nights

Future of the Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl is an experience. A perfect Southern California night. A meal shared with family and friends. Music that moves you. That’s the Hollywood Bowl — an experience that has been infused with meaning and memory for generations.

Everyone who’s been there has a story to share, and just about everyone has been there. The Hollywood Bowl is the single most accessible venue in the city. Offering diverse programming and low-cost tickets, there’s something for everyone. The Centennial Campaign will keep the Hollywood Bowl experience alive.

The Hollywood Bowl Stands Alone

Nine-time Grammy Award®-winner Bonnie Raitt said, “I don’t think there’s another place in America that has the heart-shaking impact of the Hollywood Bowl.” The greatest musical acts in the world recognize the Bowl as one of the handful of venues you need to play to have “made it” in the music industry.

The giants of classical music, from Leonard Bernstein to Jacqueline du Pré, have dazzled audiences with their virtuosity from under its shell. Divas from Judy Garland to Jessye Norman left their hearts on the stage, and in one memorable sketch, the comic geniuses of Monty Python left their pants backstage.

The Beatles inspired such a frenzy they had to sneak away from the Bowl in an armored truck. Today Gustavo Dudamel inspires his own brand of frenzy, and the story of the Bowl — home to music’s legends — lives on.

Giving Opportunities

For the first time in the Hollywood Bowl’s history, the LA Phil will offer naming opportunities that will create a permanent source of support for the venue.

Enhance an Icon

The LA Phil is a steward of the Hollywood Bowl’s history with an obligation to preserve its iconic architecture and the natural beauty of its grounds. It must also ensure that the venue is outfitted to meet the expectations of artists and audiences today. The Centennial Campaign will make these investments possible, keeping the Hollywood Bowl both iconic and beloved.

Share the Experience

While the Hollywood Bowl is a Los Angeles County park, its programming, daily operations and maintenance are managed by the non-profit LA Phil. Unlike its for-profit peers, the LA Phil is driven by a mission to keep artistic quality high and the concert experience accessible. The Centennial Campaign offers us an opportunity to bolster support for this mission by underwriting a combination of diverse programs and low-cost tickets.

Make Music History

The Hollywood Bowl stage has played host to legends, and it will continue to, as long as it remains competitive with its for-profit peers in the region. Donors to the Centennial Campaign will play a critical role in keeping the musical legacy of the Bowl alive by enabling the LA Phil to continually improve the venue to meet the needs of today’s artists.
